    • With one year of experience or less, art therapists received salaries with a median range of $29,479 to $35,500. After 20 years of experience, the median range rose to $42,000 to $55,500.

    Employer Type

    • Art therapists who worked for local and state government agencies received salaries with a median range of $34,187 to $54,074. Those employed by hospitals had salaries with a median of $33,899 to $43,710.

    Certification

    • Art therapists who earned certification as an Art Therapist Registered (ATR) from the Art Therapy Credentials Board received salaries with a median range of $33,962 to $50,053. Those who held Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification from their states received salaries with a median of $35,222 to $46,021.

    Education

    • Art therapists with Master of Science in art therapy degrees earned salaries with a median of $36,160 to $44,219. Those with Master of Art degrees in counseling earned salaries with a median of $30,500 to $40,500.

    Geography

    • The highest paying areas for art therapists to work in were the District of Columbia and California.
