There are numerous types of enlistment bonuses that may be offered when you meet with your recruiter, each vary with the individual. The variables with bonuses primary lie within these two criteria, your chosen MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) and your level of education.

Military Occupational Specialty

There are two types of occupational specialties in the Army, there is the non-critical and the critical, the latter displays an urgent need for troops to fill positions. Critical specialties will pay the largest--if you can deploy to basic training within 30 days of signing, the bonus becomes even greater.

Education A Factor

Education is beneficial in all areas of life, the Army understands this and capitalizes on the knowledge. The government is willing to offer bonuses for holders of a bachelors degree of up to $8,000--if you possess a critical language proficiency you may see an additional $5,000.

Civilian Skills

Put your specialty skills to work for you.

If you are a qualified applicant who holds skills that the Army needs, such as X-ray certified or animal care specialist, then you may see up to $5,000. Enlisting for six years will allow eligibility for a $10,000 bonus when granting your skills for military use.

Army Airborne

Get your airborne boots shined and ready.

Applicants who enlist for airborne training and are guaranteed an Airborne assignment may be eligible for a $3,000 or $6,000 bonus. The amount of bonus given varies on the MOS that you enlist for, again critical specialties pay more.
