Termites Do Damage

Termites love to feast on the wood that makes up homes, books and important papers. Because of the speed with which they can inflict damage, the termite costs home owners billions each year.
Termites Don't Bite
-
Termites aren't aggressive in biting or stinging humans like other insects, but they can bite if you stick a finger or hand in front of their faces or in their colonies. A termite bite is less painful than a mosquito or ant bite.

How to Spot a Termite

How termites look is much different than other insects. Worker termites have white bodies with large yellow heads and large mandibles. Soldier termites are long, black and have large clear wings.
Spotting a Termite Colony
-
The best way to spot a termite colony in your home is to look for earthen tubes between the ground and any wooden structure of your home. The earthen tubes can also appear in basements and foundations.
When Do Termites Appear?
-
Termites often appear in swarms in the spring, when winged termites seek new places to settle. Once they have found a new colony, the termites drop their wings and begin to breed.
