iPod Touch Vs. Zune

iPod Touch Vs. Zune thumbnail
The iPod Touch and Zune are good choices for pocket computers.

For those interested in smartphone features like Web browsing, MP3 players, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and video capabilities, but don't want an actual phone, the iPod Touch and Zune are both excellent choices.

  1. Audio and Video

    • The iPod Touch is an MP3 player, able to hold music, videos and TV shows viewable on its 3.5-inch display. Zune also offers music and video capabilities with a 3.3-inch display.

    Internet

    • The iPod Touch has built-in Wi-Fi with the Safari Web browser. There are also apps available for easier access to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, email and Skype. Zune is also Wi-Fi--enabled with a Web browser, although not as many apps are available.

    Games

    • There are thousands of games available for the iPod Touch that use the device's many features, like the accelerometer, multi-touch, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless. Some of the games are multiplayer. Zune also offers games with these features, though there are less available than there are for the Touch.

    Space

    • The iPod Touch is available with 8GB, 32GB or 64GB of space. Zune is available with 16GB or 32GB of space.

    Price

    • As of early 2010, the iPod Touch is priced at $199, $299 or $399, depending on which size you choose. Zune is available for $199.99 or $269.99, again depending on the size.
