Office Decorating Styles

Office Decorating Stylesthumbnail
Office styles can be as varied as the workers who inhabit them.

Offices may be a place to work, but that doesn't mean they have to be dull and uninspiring. In fact, when the workplace is attractive to workers, they are more likely to navigate towards it and do their work. There are many different styles that can be applied to the office workplace.

    1. Contemporary

      • Contemporary offices have glass and chrome, and incorporate geometric shapes in sculptures and wall art. Wood casegoods are sleek and spare in style. Window coverings are minimal and could include wood blinds or a simple pleated sheer.

      Traditional

      • Traditional offices use wood paneling, bookcases, desks, chairs, and sometimes wood floors. Conventional brass lamps and accessories, coupled with lots of hardbound books and heavy drapes in darker colors complete the look.

      Shabby Chic

      • Women tend to favor a softer look in their offices. Shabby chic is a soft style with whitewashed furnishings, painted wrought iron wall decor and accessories, and faded prints. Softly gathered curtains adorn the windows, and light-toned rugs cover the floor.

      Tuscan/European

      • For old world elegance, the Tuscan/European style is popular. Curves are in--from the furnishings to the lamps, to the finial bibelots on the shelves. Fringed draperies and a floral-patterned rug complete this style.

      Country French

      • Country French is similar to Tuscan in its curvy furnishings, but it has a lighter feel. Woods are fruitwood or pine, and upholstered furniture has exposed wood. Plaids are mixed with florals, and window coverings have more of a curtain feeling than a formal drapery.
