Lice will affect most people at one time or another, usually children between 3 to 12 years old. This highly contagious pest does not spread disease but is difficult to get rid of. Many parents choose a pesticide-free treatment like Cetaphil.

  1. Cetaphil

    • Cetaphil is a skin cleanser and moisturizer, usually used in place of soap, but has also been found to be effective in killing lice if used properly.

    Lice

    • Lice are tiny parasites that consume blood through the scalp of the person they are using as a host, most often children.

    How it Works

    • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser kills lice by suffocating the lice on the scalp and along the hair shaft. It does not kill nits (lice eggs).

    Instruction Summary

    • An 8-oz. bottle of Cetaphil is applied to the scalp and all hair strands, dried with a blow dryer, and left for at least eight hours or overnight. This forms a barrier around the lice, suffocating it.

    Considerations

    • To work as intended, the entire head (scalp and hair) must be blown dry completely. This will take longer than normal. Apply Cetaphil weekly for three weeks to catch newly hatched lice, interrupting its life cycle.
