Description
-
Jabots, pronounced "ja-bows," according to "Window Treatments Idea Book," are a type of window treatment hung in pairs. They are cut at a severe angle and are characteristically shorter in the center and longer on the outer edges. Jabots may be hung on their own, or in coordination with a swag or plain valance.
Purpose
-
According to the "Window Treatments Idea Book," in addition to adding more visual interest, jabots can bring attention to architectural features of the window.
-
Style
-
Jabots may hang on the curtain rod straightly or scrunched together to form gathers. Folded jabots frequently reveal a coordinating liner fabric, and evoke a more formal design theme. Gathered jabots feel less formal and more country-like.
Features
-
When paired with swags, the jabots may be placed over or under the swag portion.
Designs
-
Some windows combine treatments to include swags and jabots, with a long curtain underneath the valance portion. Smaller center jabots can be added to windows with a larger architectural design or space between the panes.
