Plants need water and a modicum of salt. However, too much saltwater can cause adverse effects. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Fresh Water Benefits

Fresh water is processed through the cells that circulate in the hairs of their roots. It then moves forward to nourish the rest of the plant.

    Salty Soil

    • Soil that contains salt can actually drain the water out of the plant cells. The plant will suffer from dehydration which will reduce the growth potential and its photosynthetic abilities.

    High Salt Level Damage

    • Dying plant

If the salt levels are in the high range, it can cause the leaves to become brown, yellow and crumbled due to the dehydration that the salt causes. This can also result in hardening the soil with a brittle salty layer. The plant will ultimately die.

    Salt Tolerant Plants

    • Plants that are native to coastal areas have a higher tolerance for salt.

    Hurricane Impact

    • Hurricanes often cause massive die-offs of freshwater plants when saltwater is forced inland by the tidal surge.
