Although many people think that only women use straightening irons on their hair, boys also can straighten their hair using this tool and other similar products that women use. Many famous celebrities have a look that is attained by straightening their hair. If your hair is long enough to straighten, stop at a beauty supply store and pick up some straightening product and a flat iron. Straighten your hair to get a new look without having to get a haircut.

Apply shampoo to wet hair and massage from the roots to the tips of your hair. Rinse thoroughly, then evenly coat your hair with conditioner and let it sit for about 2 minutes. This softens the hair and protects it from drying out during the straightening process.

Squeeze a small amount of straightening cream into your palm--or the amount recommended by the manufacturer--and rub your palms together.

Apply the straightening product all over your hair, evenly coating your strands. Make sure to focus on the bulk of your hair and avoid getting the product on your scalp.

Tip your head slightly forward, then turn on the hair dryer and blow-dry your hair forward. Turn your head while blow drying to conform the hair to the shape of your head. This straightens the hair while drying. Do this until your hair is completely dry.

Separate 1/2-inch piece of hair in the bottom layer of your bangs. Slide the straightening iron about 2 inches from your scalp, then quickly close the barrel and pull the straightening iron down and forward, rounding your wrist slightly to conform with the shape of your head.

Repeat Step 5 for the entire front of your head, moving from the bottom to the top layer in your bangs. Do this until you reach the top of your head. Then, straighten the sides and back of your hair using the same layering method.

Tip

Always round your wrist to the shape of your head when using the straightening product; otherwise, your hair will poke forward at odd angles. Never stop the straightening iron on a strand of hair. This will produce ridges and lines in your hair.
