Goldfish, scientifically known as Carassius auratus auratus, are domesticated freshwater fish bred from wild carp. They are kept in fish ponds and aquariums. If the water isn't properly maintained, fungus can develop and sicken goldfish.

A biofilter can improve pond water quality and nitrogen levels should be monitored and brought to normal levels. An anti-fungal solution should be added to the pond to reduce fungal growth.
