Is Open Office Compatible With Windows Vista?

OpenOffice is free office suite software available for download from the official OpenOffice website. It contains applications for spreadsheets, graphing, databases, text documents and presentations.

OpenOffice is compatible with all Windows operating systems, including Windows Vista, Sun Systems based software, Linux and Apple Mac.

OpenOffice can open, read and translate documents that were created from a Windows Vista--based system.

Display

Even though OpenOffice is compatible with Vista, some documents may look "different" within the text application. The settings can be changed so documents appear "normal."

Speed

Saving larger documents (more than 100 pages) can take slightly longer to save with OpenOffice than with Microsoft Word on a Vista system. It is generally no more than a few seconds, depending on the setup.

Installing Fonts

Installing additional fonts is done differently on Microsoft Vista computers, rather than Linux-based computers, but adding fonts and additional templates to customize OpenOffice is possible.
