Possible side effects of epimedium include dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst and nosebleeds, reports RxList. Panax ginseng use may result in insomnia, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhea, itching, skin rashes and mood changes.

When combined with blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin, epimedium, saw palmetto and ginkgo pose a risk for severe or uncontrollable bleeding following an injury or surgery, explains RxList. The combination of hawthorn and types of drugs that affect heart rhythm such as digoxin, propranolol, amlodipine and nitroglycerin may cause severe hypertension.
