Lemon balm, bromelain and pancreatin have the potential to cause digestive side effects like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Lemon balm also causes dizziness in some patients.

5-HTP has the potential to cause heart problems, shivering and anxiety in patients taking anti-depressants like fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, amitriptyline, clomipramine and imipramine, reports RxList. Lemon balm may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with drugs that slow down your nervous system like the tranquilizers clonazepam and lorazepam.

5-HTP may cause a life-threatening condition known as esinophilia myalgia syndrome, which causes damage to your nerves, warns RxList. Some patients experience severe allergic reactions to bromelain.
Considerations
