Pregnant-Cat Behavior

Pregnant-Cat Behavior thumbnail
Pregnant cats sleep more.

Though it may not be possible to detect any signs that your cat is pregnant during the first three weeks of gestation, her behavior will soon begin to change in some noticeable ways.

  1. Laziness

    • A pregnant cat is likely to sleep more and shy away from spending time outdoors.

    Affection--and Lack Thereof

    • If you notice that your cat is being extra-loving with you, this could be a sign of pregnancy. Likewise, a loss of interest in male cats may be an indicator.

    Hunger

    • A cat who's pregnant is likely to eat much more than before, though her appetite will wane in the last few days of pregnancy.

    Sickness

    • Just like human beings, cats can get morning sickness when they're pregnant.

    Physical Symptoms

    • A pregnant cat's nipples will become enlarged and pink after about three weeks, and she'll be displaying considerable weight gain by the fourth week.
