VBeam and Skin Discoloration

A vascular laser that removes red discoloration from the skin, the Vbeam laser uses heat to coagulate red blood vessels and broken capillaries. The Vbeam is commonly used to treat rosacea and port wine stains on the face and elsewhere on the body.

Use

Although most commonly performed on the face, VBeam treatments can also be applied to the neck, chest and arms.

Recovery

The face will be red and swollen for up to three days. Depending on the aggressiveness of treatment, bruising can occur.

Multiple Treatments

For extensive facial redness or significant vascular lesions, multiple sessions--usually between three and five--are necessary for the best results.

New Developments

A newer Vbeam laser, the Vbeam Aesthetica, treats both facial redness and brown sunspots. This dual-action Vbeam laser eliminates the need for separate laser treatments, according to Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Boris Zaks.
