Shedding is a common occurrence among reptiles wherein the outer layer of skin is sloughed off as a fresh vibrant looking skin emerges from beneath.

The leopard gecko may shed as often as once every two weeks.
Appearance

The gecko's skin becomes dull as it nears shedding. The skin will look almost white just before shedding begins.

Helping

Raise the humidity in the gecko's enclosure during shedding to ease the process. Do this by raising the temperature slightly and placing a shallow dish of warm water in the tank.
Aftercare

Once the leopard gecko has shed, make sure all the shed skin has come off the lizard. If the shed is incomplete, raise the humidity more and offer a shallow dish of warm water for your pet to soak in.

The leopard gecko is known to ingest its shed skin, which happens to be rich in vitamins.
