Exotic Pool & Billiard Cues
Pool cues can cost anywhere from $10 up into the thousands of dollars. The quality of workmanship in high-end cues along with the exotic inlays makes them highly desired among those who take the game seriously.

Pieces
-
Exotic cues always come as two-piece cues. You can find one-piece cues in billiard halls. These cues consist of cheap wood and have a tendency to warp.
Wood and Inlays
-
Rock hard maple is the preferred wood for professional cues. The exotic look of a cue comes from the butt or wide end of the cue. Exotic woods of different colors, ivory or metal often serve as inlays, while different designs can gives cues a unique look.

Wraps
-
Along with the inlays, an exotic cue usually has an Irish linen or leather wrap. Cues wrapped in Irish linen are available in a wide variety of colors and patterns.
Weight and Taper
-
Cues generally range from 18 to 21 oz., with many professionals preferring a lighter weight. Exotic cues are available in all weights. A high-end cue will have a "pro-taper," which means the diameter of the shaft remains constant for at least 10 inches from the tip up the shaft.
Case Logic
-
Always store an exotic cue in a protective case. A hard case will provide the best protection from warping. Soft cases are available but are not effective in protecting the cue when traveling.
