A systems engineer designs and implements computer systems, software and networks. This professional ensures that computer systems function efficiently and securely to support an organization's information technology needs.

Education

If you are considering a career as a systems engineer, a bachelor's degree in computer engineering is required. This involves two years of basic engineering coursework, as well as two years of coursework in information technology and computer systems.

Responsibilities

Designing and implementing computer systems, software and networks includes defining complex system requirements, determining system specifications, processes and working parameters. The overall function of this occupation is to ensure system hardware and software are compatible and capable of required performance metrics.

Testing
