About Autocad LT
AutoCAD LT is drafting software developed and sold by Autodesk. It is a more limited version of AutoCAD with fewer capabilities and a significantly smaller price tag. It is useful for two-dimensional applications.
-
3D Capabilities
-
AutoCAD LT has no 3D modeling tools; however, you can view 3D models in the program.
XREFs and PDFs
-
This program, similar to the full version, allows you to attach XREFs and PDFs to your drawing. You can also clip XREFs as you can in the full version.
-
Customization
-
Customizing is more limited with AutoCAD LT. Additionally, this program does not feature support for multiple profiles.
2D Functionality
-
An architect or builder who needs only to produce plans, elevations, sections and detail drawings might not want to purchase the more expensive full version of AutoCAD. Autodesk produced AutoCAD LT to compete with other 2D programs in the same price class.
Price Comparison
-
AutoCAD LT costs about $2,800 less than the full version of AutoCAD as of January 2010.
