Allegretto Lasik is a procedure designed to correct a patient's vision. Lasik uses a laser to sculpt the eye and improve vision. The Allegretto Lasik procedure is distinguishable from other Lasik procedures because it uses a specific type of laser, called the Allegretto Wave excimer laser.

The Allegretto laser uses waterfront-guided lasers, to fine-tune treatment and evaluate the specific needs of each individual eye.

Requirements

A procedure approved for patients who are at least 18 years old, it can treat patients with up to -7.00 D myopia, according to USA Eyes. Your eye doctor can determine whether you are eligible for the procedure.

Misconceptions

This Lasik procedure can also be used for patients with astigmatism, specifically no more than 3.00 D of astigmatism.

Effects

According to the Precision Lasik Group, less than 5 percent of patients who underwent this procedure needed additional correction, and more than 50 percent attained at least 20/16 vision.

Warning

According to USA Eyes, the long-term (beyond six months) risks of using Allegretto Lasik are unknown.
