Features
-
Stone floor Patios usually are constructed with flat, solid flooring made of stone, concrete or some other form of paved product. Decks most often consist of a raised wooden platform that is solid or that consists of individual wood beams.
Benefits
-
Generally, both patios and decks serve the same purpose: They create an extension of a house into the outdoors while also adding more square footage in which to relax, entertain, cook outside and enjoy nature.

Maintenance
-
Wooden deck A patio floor made of concrete or stone needs little upkeep. In contrast, a wooden deck requires periodic maintenance, including the application of sealers designed to protect the wood from sun and inclement weather.
Additional Function
-
Patios and decks are both suitable for use as outdoor kitchens. Increasingly popular for casual living and entertaining, outdoor kitchens offer an alternative to cooking indoors during warmer weather.
Prevention/Solution
-
Using pressure-treated wood is recommended when building an outdoor deck. This type of wood resists cracking and rotting, and requires very little maintenance.
