School Bathroom Etiquette

Bathroom etiquette should always be applied whether in your personal bathroom at home, at the office, in a friend's house or in the school or dorm bathroom.

  1. Don't Cut Your Hair

    • Cutting your hair in the bathroom seems like a good place to do this, but leaving your hair behind in the sink and around the bathroom floors is a no-no. Imagine someone brushing their teeth and looking down and seeing your hair floating around.

    Flush

    • It's so simple, yet some people don't do it or somehow forget. Always remember to flush the toilet after you've used it.

    Clean Up After Yourself

    • If you've left water around the sink, take a moment to wipe it up with a towel and be sure to throw that towel into the trash once you're done. It's everybody's job to clean up after themselves.

    Occupied Bathrooms

    • When you walk into a restroom and all of the urinals or stalls are occupied, you can use your time wisely by checking yourself in the mirror to ensure proper grooming and give your hands a wash. By that time, a stall should be opened up. If a line is already congregating, then by all means, get in line. Just don't stand in front of a stall waiting for someone to come out.

    Wash Your Hands

    • Whether you're male or female, wash your hands after you have used the bathroom. Cleanliness should be mandatory since the bathroom is a dirty place in itself.

    Don't Use Your Cell Phone

    • Don't talk on your cell phone in the bathroom. It shouldn't take you more than five minutes to use the bathroom and surely your phone call can wait.
