Social Versus Ranked

Social matches allow players to fill up an entire online match with online friends. The idea here is to have matches with a more relaxed feeling. Ranked matches do not have an open forum for teams to trash talk, and they also use a strict ranking system from 1 to 50, with 50 being the elite of the Halo community. Rankings are based on games won and the kill/death ratio. Ranked matches are for players looking to prove their worth.

Social matches also make use of experience points based on wins and the kill/death ratio for games played, and unlike ranked matches you are not penalized ratings for poor performance. However, the experience gained in social matches weighs very little in the online community.
