    • Those who work as eMarketing specialists are responsible for optimizing client web page code and content, and marketing the website. They are required to reach and educate potential clients using social media, public relations and online advertising.

    Skills

    • Specialists in eMarketing have a knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), HTML code, keyword research and Web content creation. An eMarketing specialist has good written communication and understands how to conduct online advertising campaigns such as pay-per-click (PPC) advertising.

    Education

    • Most positions require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or business, as well as three to five years of experience in online marketing. Some positions may require an eMarketing certification in addition to a college degree.

    • The average salary in 2010 for an eMarketing specialist is $55,000 per year, with eMarketing managers averaging $65,000 per year in the United States.
