Characteristics
-
The Majesty Palm has tall, bladed, green stalks and can quickly reach 10 feet tall. It should be kept within five to eight feet of a window to ensure medium light.
Fertilization
-
To maintain a healthy plant, feed plant a water-soluble fertilizer once a month.
-
Watering
-
Majesty Palm soil should be kept evenly moist with proper drainage. Overwatering will cause the roots to decompose; however, too little water will cause the plant to dry out. Daily misting will help maintain a comfortable humidity level for the plant.
Pruning
-
Prune light-brownish palm leaves about two to three inches from trunk.
Pest Control
-
Spider mites are a common enemy to the Majesty Palm. Misting the plant with a soapy water solution twice a day should rid the plant of these pests; however, if you prefer, a commercial spray from the local gardening store will do the trick.
