International lawyers specialize in legal issues where the laws of one or more nations come into play. These attorneys can be found working for companies, governments or law firms.

  1. Requirements

    • International attorneys must be licensed to practice law, meaning they must have a law degree and pass the bar examination of at least one state. They also often require additional training and education in various international laws or treaties governing their practice area.

    Duties

    • International attorneys help their clients whenever they encounter international law issues. These could be immigration laws, criminal laws, civil laws or international treaties and agreements.

    Clients

    • International lawyers can work for governments, companies or private clients. They can help companies in business deals involving the laws of many different nations, or help governments draft policies, or work with private clients who have immigration issues.

    Work Day

    • An international law attorney's daily job can vary greatly depending on what they do and for whom they work. They may spend all their time in an office drafting documents, or a court room, or traveling to different parts of the country and around the world.

    Salary

    • The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the average salary for an attorney is about $110,00 per year. This number can vary drastically depending on the attorney's experience, employer and many other factors.
