Father's rights advocacy groups lobby for the rights of dads in family law cases. Their advocacy usually deals with custody or child support issues. Many of the people involved are fathers who want to be equally involved in parenting their children.

  1. American Coalition for Fathers and Children

    • Located in Washington DC, the American Coalition for Fathers and Children (ACFC) is dedicated to securing equal rights for all those involved in divorce proceedings. Their position is that children do better when both parents are involved in their lives.

    National Fatherhood Initiative

    • The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) conducts research on the impact that the presence or lack of a father can have on a child. Federal and state policymakers use this research to create legislation emphasizing the importance of fathers in the family.

    Fathers and Families

    • Fathers and Families, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization, believes that divorce should not change a dad's presence in his child's life. They posit that children should have both parents in their lives.

    Fathers Rights Foundation

    • Based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Fathers Rights Foundation has been providing lawyer-written and reviewed information to assist dads in custody cases since 1987.

    Divorced Father's Network

    • The Divorced Father's Network meets regularly and provides legal resources for dads. Its members believe that both parents should be equally involved in raising their children.
