Job Description of Doormen
A doorman acts as an unarmed security measure and assists people in a residential setting, hotel, large commercial building, entertainment venue or retail business with a variety of services and requests.

Doorman duties vary depending on the venue. In a residential or hotel setting, they can include opening doors, carrying bags, receiving packages, greeting residents or guests and assessing individuals before allowing entry into the building. For a retail business or entertainment venue, they may include controlling crowds or checking the identification of patrons.
Training

Doormen typically do not need special training beyond an understanding of general etiquette and communication skills. Depending on the facility, a doorman may be hired through a security firm and have training in security measures.
