How to Access the Recycle Bin from the D Drive

By C. Taylor

Every hard drive contains a Recycle Bin, a hidden folder on the drive. By default hidden folders are appropriately hidden from view within Windows. To access the Recycle Bin you first need to change your Windows settings to enable the viewing of hidden folders. Once you've done this the Recycle Bin works like any other folder.

Click the "Start" orb and select Computer. This opens Windows Explorer.

Click Tools on the top menu bar, and select "Folder options..."

Click the View tab and select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" under the sub-menu "Hidden files and folders." Click "Apply" and "OK."

Click the D drive in the left-hand panel of Windows Explorer.

Double-click $RECYCLE.BIN in the right-hand panel.

Double-click Recycle Bin in the right-hand panel to access your D drive's Recycle Bin.
