Why Is Drinking Coke Bad for Your Body?

Soft drinks (sodas) are some of the unhealthiest drinks you can put in your body. Most people know the health hazards of drinking soda, but continue to drink it anyway. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Sugar Content

    • Soda has a very high sugar content. In one 12-oz. can of regular Coke, there are 9.3 teaspoons of sugar. Consuming this much sugar on a regular basis can lead to obesity and diabetes.

    Tooth Decay

    • The sugars and acids in soda damage your teeth. Every time you take a drink of soda, it decays the enamel on your teeth for the next 20 minutes.

    Dehydration

    • The sugar and caffeine in soda dehydrate your body. Without low hydration levels, you may begin to experience headaches, nausea, and fatigue.

    Caffeine Content

    • Many sodas contain high amounts of caffeine. Taken in excess, caffeine can cause insomnia, headaches and drowsiness.

    Bone Decay

    • Soda causes bone decay which may lead to osteoporosis. When excessive amounts of phosphorous are consumed, the body must balance the calcium level in blood by leeching it off of the bones.
