  1. Uses: Badger Hair Brush

    • Badger hair brushes are widely used as shaving brushes. Along with shaving, badger hair is used in Japanese painting brushes.

    • Badger hair has a black and white appearance. There is an extremely fine tip in badger hair brushes.

    Uses: Goat Hair Brush

    • Goat hair is commonly used in calligraphy and art brushes. Goat hair is also used in makeup brushes, such as a kabuki brush.

    Appearance: Goat Hair

    • Goat hair is known for its tapered tip. There are also small pockets in the hair, which are helpful with absorbency. The best quality goat hair brushes have a yellow tint at the brush's tip.

    Materials Used

    • Premium brushes are made from 100 percent goat or badger hair. Cheaper versions of either brush might include horse or wolf hair as filler.
