Unique Resume Styles

Many career disciplines require a unique resume to attract potential employers. These resume styles are often related to a career industry and require following specific style guidelines.

  1. One-Page Myth

    • When creating a resume, many people will suggest a one-page resume or potential employers will ignore it. Although important information will attract an employer if it's on the first page, almost all employers will consider a resume over one page in length.

    Curriculum Vitae

    • Professionals in medical or education industries create a curriculum vitae (CV). This type of resume often highlights education, publications and theoretical and functional experience descriptions to show not only previous experience, but expertise and accomplishments within a specific field of study.

    Creative

    • Creative professionals such as designers, artists, models and actors create a resume to express their visual abilities. These resumes often include photographic examples of their work as well as visually attractive layouts to grab the attention of a potential employer.

    Portfolio

    • High-level executives typically create a portfolio-style resume enclosed in a folder with a business card. These resumes are often created to simulate a well-written presentation, which shows leadership and executive qualities.

    Significance

    • These unique resume styles are important for different career industries, as many careers focus on different skill sets such as experience, education or visual ability to be successful in a career.
