Clorox for Toe Fungus
Toenail fungus can be difficult to treat and often reoccurs. Medication and OTC treatments are available, but some homemade remedies can provide results. Clorox, a bleach product, has been called a miracle in a bottle for its plethora of uses and benefits, one of which is for toenail fungus.

Causes
-
Toenails are prone to fungus and infection. Feet sweat, become moist, and are often confined to darkness in shoes and socks (fungi thrives in these conditions). Also, poor circulation in the toes contributes to fungus infections.
Risk Factors
-
Existing skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or athlete's foot can increase the risk of toenail fungus. Wearing damp and wet shoes and socks, diabetes, heavy perspiration or a toenail injury or damaged toenail are other causes.
-
Identification
-
Toenail fungus is identified by a white or yellow spot that is visible under the tip of the toenail. When it spreads, the entire toenail can become discolored, hard and thick with rough edges.
Brush-on Treatment
-
Mix 1 cap Clorox with 4 caps of water and brush on toenails like nail polish using a Q-tip.
Soak Treatment
-
Soaking toes in a mixture of 1 cup of water and 1 cap of Clorox bleach is another method. Thoroughly dry and rub with vaseline, Vicks Vapor Rub or tea tree oil.
Caveat
-
Although home remedies like Clorox work faster and are less expensive than conventional treatments, Clorox was not made for, or intended to be a treatment for toenail fungus. However, it has provided relief for some with this condition.
