Semiprecious gemstones form naturally from minerals within the earth's crust. Learning about these minerals is an interesting way to examine nature. In addition to learning the mineral properties of the stones, many people have interest in their metaphysical properties, often found in folklore and certain spiritual practices.

  1. Nephrite Jade

    • Nephrite jade is a form of actinolate. This type of jade is nephrite is stronger and darker in color than jadeite. Metaphysically nephrite jade is believed to help one gain wisdom, courage, mercy, emotional balance, love, humility, generosity and good luck.

    Jadeite

    • Jadeite is a form of augiste. This type of jade is fragile and is often found in shades of mint green. Metaphysically, jadeite is believed to bring harmony, wisdom, courage, love, humility and good luck.

    Blue Topaz

    • Blue topaz is a form of silicate and is part of the aluminum silicate group. Metaphysically, blue topaz is thought to help one show compassion and aid communication

    Amethyst

    • Amethyst is a form of crystalline quartz. The purple color of the stone is due to the amounts of Manganese and iron. Metaphysically, amethyst is believed to aid creativity, spirituality and relaxation and to help quiet the mind.

    Aquamarine

    • Aquamarine is a form of cyclosilicate beryl. The blue-green color of this stone is often caused by heat-treating the gem to enhance the stones natural color. Metaphysically, aquamarine is believed to aid in perception, reducing stress and quieting the mind.
