Can You Register More Than One iPod on iTunes?

The iPod and iTunes are very popular and capable products that work easily on both Macs and PCs. It's fairly easy to configure iTunes so you can sync more than one iPod on the same computer.

  1. Required Equipment

    • An iPod box.

To do this, you will need a computer, the latest version of iTunes for either Mac OS X or Windows, and more than one iPod with the correct USB cables to go along with them.

    Device Connection

    • Plug in all your iPods and configure them as you would a single iPod. iTunes should guide you through this process effortlessly, and soon all your songs and other content should be syncing onto your iPods.

    Custom Syncing

    • You can configure iTunes to sync different media or applications to each iPod. Just click the iPod in the left sidebar and select "Manually manage songs or videos" or the appropriate specific setting in the tab on the top for each media type.

You shouldn't run into any issues with copy protection while using recent iTunes-purchased content on multiple iPods. If your songs aren't iTunes Plus DRM-free songs, you may need to pay the upgrade fee in the iTunes store.

    Podcasts and Audiobooks

    • Be careful when syncing the podcasts and audiobooks on different iPods. ITunes keeps track of your place in those kinds of files, and if two or more iPods play the same file, there may be an issue with syncing that will cause the most progress to be distributed across all the devices.
