Color Printers Vs. Mono Printers
Both color and black and white printers are widely used in homes and businesses. Both types of printers have their advantages, but it is important to compare and contrast the benefits of each type of printer before making a purchasing decision.
-
Purchase Price
-
Generally speaking the price of a color laser printer will be higher than the price of a monochrome printer of similar speed and capacity. Most desktop inkjet printers will be color printers, and the cost of these units will be comparable to the price of a personal black and white laser printer.
Cost of Consumables
-
There is a big difference in the cost of supplies for color vs. mono printers. For example, color laser printers will use several different toner cartridges to produce those vibrant colors, and each toner cartridge can cost hundreds of dollars. The cost of toner for a mono laser printer, on the other hand, will typically be less than $100.
-
Ease of Use
-
Both mono and color printers are easy to use, but it is important to set them up properly. Once those printers are connected to the computer they will be simple to use.
Cost of Repair
-
The cost of repair services can also be quite a bit higher for a color printer, especially if that color printer is a laser based machine. There are a number of costly parts contained in a color laser printer, and when those parts fail it can be quite expensive to replace them.
Business Use
-
When it comes to business use, color printers generally outshine black and white models. There are times when a business will need to produce output in full color, including sales presentations, product descriptions and other important documents.
