Regular Detergent Vs. High Effiency
If you use regular detergent in a high-efficiency (HE) washer you are wearing dirty clothes, as regular detergent requires 50% more water to clean properly. High-efficiency detergent formulas help HE washers wash more clothes using less water. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Differences
-
Regular detergent is formulated for standard washers that wash less laundry with more water. High-efficiency detergent is formulated for cleaning bigger loads with less water and tumbling.
High-Efficiency Detergent
-
HE detergents help front-loading washers do more with less. High-efficiency detergents remove dirt using less suds, and rinse the soapy residue over multiple rinse cycles.
-
Usage
-
Traditional top-loading washers can use any type or any brand of regular detergent. Top or front-loading HE washer use only HE detergent, with the correct measured amount.
Benefits
-
HE detergent cleans more clothes with less water. Regular detergents offer many liquid and powder options combined with a bleach alternative, color-safe bleach or fabric softener. High-efficiency detergents make it possible for HE washers use up to 50% less energy and 66% less water.
Warning
-
Regular detergent suds more than high-efficiency formulas. Using regular detergent instead of high-efficiency detergent in HE washers can cause suds and water to overflow--and possibly make the washer's pump overheat.
