HUD Government Renter's Rights
Just as homeowners have rights, so do renters. In order for you to experience a quality living environment, HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development), has detailed your rights as a tenant.
-
Resolve Issues
-
Residential Issues You have the right to have complaints and residential issues resolved as quickly as possible.
Safety
-
Safety First As a renter, you have the right to live in a safe and clean residence that is not contaminated by environmental hazards.
-
Repairs
-
Fix It Everything in your residence should work properly. If not, you have the right to expect residential management to have it fixed by qualified repair services.
Inspection
-
Residence Inspected If your residence has to be inspected, and it is not an emergency, you have the right to be notified, in writing, in advance.
Organize
-
Get Organized Renters have the right to organize without retaliation from residential management.
Services and Facilities
-
Don't Discriminate When using the building's services and facilities, renters have the right to be treated fairly and not discriminated against because of their religion, race, gender, color, disability, nationality or family status.
