Bananas become a rich and nutty treat when roasted over a campfire.

Campfires help create excellent memories. Similarly, food cooked over a campfire seems to taste better than it usually does, and bananas are no exception. In fact, these sweet fruits take on a rich and nutty flavor when roasted over a campfire, making them the perfect kid-friendly treat. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Grate Cooking

    • Bananas roast especially well when they are cooked on the top of a grate that has been set over an open campfire.

    Cooking Rocks

    • Bananas can also be cooked on the top of a rock that has been heated inside of a campfire.

    Roasting Sticks

    • In addition, bananas can be split in half and placed on roasting sticks, though you'll have to keep a close eye on them when you use this cooking method to make sure they don't burn.

    Foil Cooking

    • Bananas can also be wrapped in aluminum foil and placed directly onto coals at the edge of an open fire. Even though the bananas are wrapped in foil, they should be left inside their peel.

    Leave in the Peel

    • Bananas should always be left inside their natural casing when roasted. This protects the fruit and helps seal in the natural banana flavor.
