What Is Therapeutic-M Vitamins?

Therapeutic M vitamins are often used to treat or prevent vitamin deficiency for people who do not follow a healthy diet. In addition, they are sometimes prescribed to people who have certain illnesses, or to help provide adequate vitamin intake during pregnancy.

  1. Warnings

    • Therapeutic M vitamins contain iron, which could be fatal in young children. Iron overdose is one of the leading causes of fatal poising in children six years old and younger.

    Side Effects

    • You may experience constipation, diarrhea, or an upset stomach after taking Therapeutic M. Your body should adjust to this medication in a short period of time. If these side effects do not go away, or if they get worse, you should contact your pharmacist or physician right away.

    Precautions

    • It is important to check the ingredients on the label before taking Therapeutic M to make sure you are not allergic to any of its ingredients. Also, make sure your doctor knows your medical history because certain problems, such as alcohol, liver problems, or vitamin B 12 deficiency may prompt him to prescribe an alternative treatment for you.

    Interactions

    • As with all medications, do not start, stop, or change the dosage your doctor has prescribed without checking with him first. Make sure your doctor knows of all prescription and nonprescription products you are currently using. Do not take your Therapeutic M at the same time you take antacids, thyroid medications, or certain antibiotics because the iron in the vitamin may interact with these drugs.

    Overdose

    • Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are signs of an overdose. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your local poison control immediately or go to the emergency room.
