A business process analyst uses computer software to develop models that simulate various "what if" scenarios for the purpose of creating the most efficient and profitable operations for a business. Alternate titles for this role include business process engineer and business analyst.

A business process analyst must create reports for presentation to senior management. These reports include all findings from the audit as well as recommendations for process improvements.

As improvements to processes are being implemented, business process analysts partner with business group heads in a consultative manner to successfully facilitate the changes.
Education

Employers typically require that candidates for the role of business process analyst possess at least a four-year degree within accounting, economics or a related field of study. Those with a master's degree are most marketable.
