Periolase Laser Gum Treatment

PerioLase is a non-invasive treatment option for gum disease. It replaces traditional surgery by utilizing a laser to destroy bacteria within the gum tissue. No cutting or stitches is required.

  1. Features

    • PerioLase utilizes a six watt, neodymium incorporated yttrium aluminum garnet laser which is digitally controlled. There are seven programmed pulse durations that the dentist can choose from.

    Applications

    • PerioLase is used for laser periodontal therapy. Primarily, it is used to treat gum disease. Other soft tissue procedures can utilize PerioLase as well.

    Advantages

    • PerioLase is accurate, fast and less invasive than gum surgery. Laser treatment typically lasts a few minutes.

    Side Effects

    • Patients may experience short term discomfort after the procedure. No pain is associated with the laser treatment.

    Considerations

    • Individuals with superficial gingivitis (Class I) are not eligible for PerioLase treatment because their gum pockets are less than 5 mm. Individuals with gum pockets greater than 5 mm ( Class II, III, and IV) can be treated with PerioLase.
