Advantage is a flea treatment for dogs and cats. Like any medication, it can have side effects. Watch your pet for any medication sensitivity. If you notice a symptom, bathe your pet immediately and call your vet.

  1. Itching at Application Site

    • This is the most common sensitivity of Advantage. You will notice the animal scratching or trying to chew at the application site.

    Loss of appetite

    • This can be hard to tell in some pets. Some pets are not big eaters to begin with. However, watch to see if the amount of food intake has decreased.

    Hyperactivity

    • The animal may become much more active than normal.

    Listlessness

    • A listless pet will be inactive and hard to awaken when it is sleeping. Depression is similar to listlessness but instead of just being inactive, it will have alert times but have no interest in the things that usually hold its attention.

    Vomiting

    • In extreme cases, your pet may throw up or suffer from diarrhea.

    Seizures

    • Shaking, tremors and seizures are also more extreme sensitivities.
