Can You Wash Ugg Shoes?
Uggs, or single-layer sheepskin boots, continue to be a popular footwear choice. Application of waterproofing spray and proper maintenance can keep your investment in good condition for some time. Does this Spark an idea?

Waterproofing Spray
-
Waterproofing product for Uggs can be purchased from a retailer or shoe repair facility. Proper application can help keep your Uggs relatively free from everyday grime and dirt.
Application of Waterproofing
-
Before first wearing, apply waterproofing to clean, dry boots. Spray should be applied in a well-ventilated area. Apply in a back-and-forth motion with attention to areas along seams. Let dry for 24 hours.

Cleaning Stains
-
Should your Uggs become dirty or stained, you can handwash in cold or lukewarm water, using a mild detergent designed for wool. Submerge your boots in water, gently scrubbing with a clean toothbrush or nail brush. Rinse with a clean sponge and cool water.
Drying Uggs
-
To remove excess wetness, you can place your boots in a washing machine spin cycle for a few minutes. Place in the shade to dry but avoid direct heat or sunlight. The boots will shrink but will stretch back to their previous size after wearing. When fully dried, you should reapply waterproofing.
Removing Stubborn Stains
-
To remove stubborn grease stains, you may carefully rub them out with fine sandpaper. Rain spots can be removed by folding the wet area against itself and gently rubbing.
Deodorizing Uggs
-
As Ugg wearers customarily wear their boots without socks, odor can become a problem. Applying a mixture of equal parts baking soda and corn starch (2 teaspoons of each) can deodorize your Uggs. Sprinkle the mixture across the inside of your boots. Leave them overnight and shake out the excess.
