Site supervisors oversee contruction sites.

A site supervisor within the construction industry oversees and manages all aspects of a construction site. This can include preparing budgets, hiring team members and handling all logistical and operations duties.

Alternate Job Titles

Depending on the employer, a site supervisor might be given an alternate job title. Site manager, construction superintendent, project engineer and construction supervisor are all common.

Safety Enforcement

A site supervisor maintains an in-depth knowledge of all company and legal safety regulation and communicates them to all workers. Additionally, the supervisor enforces compliance, administering disciplinary actions as required.

Operations

All operational duties, such as coordinating work schedules and ensuring the timely delivery of goods by external vendors, are also the responsibility of a site supervisor.

Overseeing Subcontractors

When dealing with subcontractors such as electricians and plumbers, a site supervisor ensures that everyone adheres to all schedule and budget constraints.

Client Communication

A site supervisor meets with his client on a regular basis to provide an up-to-the-minute briefing on the status of the construction project. It is at this time that any changes, delays or other issues are addressed.
