Can You Buy Movies on XBox Live?

The Xbox 360 can act as your own movie store whether you are buying or renting. There are a few conditions to this however, which will be covered in this fact sheet.

Xbox Live Membership

Only Xbox Live Gold Level members can download movies. An annual Gold membership costs $49.99.

Netflix Service

Xbox Live members can link their Netflix account to be able to stream videos directly to the Xbox 360. Other features are available, such as browsing movies and editing the Instant Queue.

Zune Video

Members who subscribe to Zune are able to purchase movies that can be watched over and over again. Movies purchased on Xbox Live can also be transferred to a computer or Zune device.

Downloading Movies

Both the Netflix and Zune services require at least a 3MB per second broadband download speed to stream the movies.

Sharing Movies

Select titles can be watched simultaneously by an Xbox Live member and their friends, provided that they are all Gold Members and are using Party Mode for Zune Videos.
