Dry Eyes

The most frequent complaint of contact lens wearers is dry eyes. Contact lenses lose their moisture over time and are not recommended for individuals with chronic dry eyes.

Eye Infections

Wearing contacts increases the risk of eye infection. Calcium, lipid, and protein deposits block the eyes' oxygen supply and may cause infection.

Frequent Cleaning

Contact lenses require frequent cleaning to protect against eye infection, but cleaning does not completely prevent bacteria buildup.

Expense

The more often contact lenses are replaced, the healthier the eyes will be. However, a frequent replacement schedule can cost more money than a long-lasting pair of eye glasses would cost.

Inserting Contacts

Many people fear having to touch their eye to insert and remove their contacts. This fear cannot always be overcome, and individuals with long nails may unintentionally scratch their eye when they take their contacts out.
