Important Information About Rogaine for Men thumbnail
Rogaine is used for male pattern baldness.

Rogaine is a 5 percent minoxidil topical solution that is used to treat male pattern baldness. It has been approved as a hair loss treatment by the Federal Drug Administration.

  1. Application

    • Rogaine comes in foam and liquid form. It is typically applied twice a day, one milliliter in the morning and the same at night. Your hair and scalp must be dry.

    Success Rate

    • Hair regrowth can take as long as four months to begin for some men and 15 percent of men will not experience regrowth. Those who do not see results after four months should consider other methods.

    Use

    • Rogaine is intended only for men experiencing male pattern baldness, meaning hair loss on the crown of their heads.

    Guidelines

    • Rogaine is not a remedy for a receding hairline or frontal balding. It also should not be used if you do not have a family history of hair loss, are under age 18, have patchy or sudden hair loss, or use any other scalp medications.

    Warnings

    • Rogaine can be dangerous if used on a scalp that is irritated, sunburned or infected. It also should not be used on any other part of your body. See a doctor if you have an allergic reaction, chest pain, a change in your heartbeat, dizziness, light-headedness or fainting.
