Care & Treatment For Acne & Oily Skin
Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition that affects almost all adolescents and nearly half of adult women. Oil produced by the body's sebaceous glands contributes to the formation of acne. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Appearance
-
Acne can appear as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules and cysts on the face, nape, back, shoulders and upper arms.
Causes
-
Acne forms when sebum (oil) becomes trapped in a pore or hair follicle and is unable to reach the surface. The blockage allows bacteria to multiply, causing inflammation. This can occur 2 to 3 weeks before a pimple actually appears.
-
Treatment
-
Most people are able to treat their acne using specialized over-the-counter products, which cleanse, exfoliate, eliminate bacteria or reduce oil. For severe acne, a dermatologist may recommend prescription oral or topical antibiotics.
Alternative Remedies
-
Thyme is an excellent astringent and may help clear up acne. Steep 3 to 4 tbsp. of dried thyme in 1 ½ cups of boiling water for 30 minutes, then strain, refrigerate and use daily as a facial rinse.
Caring for Oily Skin
-
Overactive oil glands can be bothersome if they cause acne, unwanted shine or a greasy, unclean appearance. Avoid the temptation of scrubbing your face with soap, because it may trigger even more oil production. Instead, choose a gentle cleanser or astringent which removes excess oil, but doesn't eliminate it entirely.

I've noticed that no one really talks about how Natural sulfur can work for acne. I do check out alot of the blogs and I assume the general public just is not that informed. I started using it years ago when my dermatologist recommended it in conjunction with a pharmacutical product. I noticed a difference almost immediately. Over time I found that the sulfur soap alone was sufficient to keep my skin breakouts at bay. Now I am really into this Volcanic Sulfur Soap 10% which I found on line a year ago. Its affordable and smells nice and has a softer texture than the other brands I had used. You can find it on the Joesoef Skin Care website. FYI Just thought I'd share...
