Business Plan Staffing Description

Organizational structure and management is one of the many elements of a business plan.

A strong business plan contains several elements and sections to a strong business plan. One in particular is the organizational structure and management section, which emphasizes how your company and its employees will work together.

  1. Readiness

    • Investors need to know that you're ready to do business as soon as funds are available. A major key in being ready to proceed is having a clear understanding of who your staff will be and how it will work to create a successful business.

    Structure

    • Detail the staffing structure of your business. Explain the purpose of each position, from the CEO to the custodial workers, the hierarchy of those positions, how many you intend to have in each position and how that position will contribute to the successful workings of the company.

    Ownership

    • This section of a business plan must also provide a breakdown of ownership in the company. How this maps out depends on the type of business entity the company is (sole proprietorship, partnership or limited liability company).

    Profiles

    • Provide brief profile for your top management staff and company owners. Much like a resume, each profile should include a description of that employee's position, educational background and experience, time within that position and salary, and other crowning achievements and considerations.

    Board of Directors

    • Profiles for the board of directors, if applicable, are also a must for this section of your business plan. Include how each board member stays involved with the business outside of board meetings, company contributions (even anticipated ones) and background information.
